Hello Springtime!

I hope you are all well, and have been enjoying the signs of Spring so far. How uplifting to feel the warmth of the sun and the days beginning to lengthen. Have you felt the increased surge in energy yet?

Spring is a new beginning, and usually brings a desire for a fresh start or new direction. After the seasonal hibernation, winter food and possible medications from winter colds, it’s now the optimal time to add some high vibrational foods, hydrate our winter skin and boost our detoxification organs (liver, colon, kidneys, lungs and skin).

Spring cleanses aren’t just about about shedding some extra weight, it’s an opportunity to focus on the return of lost energy. Naturally at this time of year our metabolism speeds up, which is why we feel increased vitality. For some the increase in energy doesn’t arrive, which may be a sign we need a helping hand.

Skin Brushing

Dry body brushing can help to stimulate the lymphatic system, which removes toxins from the body and helps you stay well.

This can be a 5-10 minute routine before you hop in the bath or shower. Use a natural bristle brush on dry skin, and gently work upwards from the feet in long sweeping motions. Brush over the same area a few times and always work towards the heart. You will feel so good!

Epsom salt bath

These mineral salts are perfect for sore muscles, relaxation and can also be used for detox purposes as they draw impurities from the body. Add a couple of cups to a warm/hot bath, and soak for up to 20 minutes. Always hydrate afterwards.

Stress

Chronic stress creates havoc in the body. Build the things that you love into your calendar, make time each week to sit down and plan for the things that bring you joy and relieve stress and tension. Unless it’s a date you might be too busy to arrange something once the week is in full swing!  Go out into nature and exercise daily if you can. Any type of regular movement helps to keep fluids circulating around the body.

Cleanse your thoughts

We can exercise regularly and eat all the vegetables in the world, but if we’re not happy or living with negative talk we need to change that. Emotional health plays a huge part in healing. Pay attention to what you need and how you speak to yourself, particularly whilst cleansing.

How can reflexology help?

Reflexology can stimulate specific reflexes in the hands and feet, such as lymphatic system and routes of elimination. It helps us to move effortlessly through seasonal changes by bringing balance to the body-mind.

The treatment induces deep relaxation and can work very specifically to help the body heal itself.

People will often seek reflexology to help with common ailments, such as musculoskeletal pain, insomnia, hormonal imbalance and digestive issues. In many cases they will see their symptoms improve or disappear and during that time discover how deeply relaxing reflexology can be to their whole being.

The effects can be felt immediately, but studies have shown that the cumulative effect have the best results. Treatments can be offered at weekly intervals over a 4-6 week period. Incorporating this natural therapy into your well-being routine adds many wonderful benefits to your week, or month!
